SOME KIND OF CULT
SOME KIND OF CULT formed in early 1999 when a group of writers and actors met
via an alternative personals ad (seriously!) The Cult strives to take sketch
comedy to the next level by creating thematically unified shows, so an
audience is not only entertained by sketches, but has enjoyed the story arc of a good
comedic play. The Cult has performed in the Seattle Fringe Festival (where
they've been called "downright hilarious" and "no cream puff sketch comedy
troupe"), was a favorite at the Seattle Sketch Comedy Festival, hosted by John
Keister (Almost Live!), and continues to produce shows in venues throughout
Seattle."

TROOP!

TROOP! is an LA based sketch comedy group that has been performing for close
to five years. TROOP! doesn't pride itself on being "on-the-edge", "zany" or
most importantly, "irreverent." They may happen to be these things, but they
pride themselves on just being funny. The group has amassed a constantly growing
audience by performing smart, clever, and gimcrack sketches for audiences
around the country. The distinct tone to their shows makes a TROOP! show just
that: a TROOP! show. Don't see them because they're "zany", "irreverent", or
"on-the-edge," check them out because they're just plain funny.

BALD FACED LIE

Bald Faced Lie began in 1996, and has since grown from a local Seattle
late-night sketch comedy group to a nationally recognized comedic theatre company.
While BFL continues to produce original, ensemble-generated sketch comedy, they
have also branched out into other comic stage productions including plays,
satirical staged readings, and experimental cabarets. The Liars have been
regularly featured on the National Public Radio show Rewind with Bill Radke and have
appeared on television (as writers and performers) on the Seattle television
show The John Report with Bob. Currently, BFL is working with filmmaker Ron
Gilbert to capture the wordless sketches of their acclaimed show Speechless on
celluloid.

HOSKINS & BREEN

Portland's Hoskins & Breen have created a bold fusion of character-driven
short stories broken up with both random and eclectic segments of razor-sharp
sketch comedy, probing compelling themes such as manipulation, gossip,
miscommunication and worship. John Breen and Loren Hoskins have been writing and
performing for over ten years. Loren's credits include: co-founder/writer/performer -
The 3rd Floor, Captain Bogg and Salty, and Head-Crazy Brain Girl. John's
experience includes appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, ComedySportz,
and performing with the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York.

FLAMING BOX OF STUFF

Flaming Box of Stuff was formed over the summer of 2002 out of a desire to
create comedy that dares to go further, eschewing so many of the cliches
associated with comedy, such as cheap pop-culture references and one dimensional
gags. Instead Flaming Box of Stuff strives to take an honest approach with
characters and situations, focusing on creating unique worlds where only brief
glimpses are offered, essentially putting the focus back on the "sketch" of sketch
comedy. First making their debut as a part of The Seattle SketchFest's 2002
benefit "Seven Layer Dip," Flaming Box of Stuff has gone on to perform at such
unique venues as "PUSH," "2002 Seattle Fringe Festival Benefit Cabaret," Bald
Faced Lie's "Neither/Nor," Macha Monkey's "Meow" and The Northwest Actor's
Studio's "Night of Devilry." Their January 2003 full length debut was a sell out
smash at the Union Garage.
Their appearance in January of 2003 at the 2nd annual Chicago Sketchfest saw
the group perform to enthusiastic capacity audiences and take the Chicago
comedy scene by storm. A return Seattle engagement in April 2003 at the Northwest
Actor's Studio cemented their reputation as comedy innovators. From Erin
Whitcomb's review of Flaming Box of Stuff in the 04/24/2003 UW Daily "Blending
three parts warped humor, two parts talented cast and one part innovative staging,
the production draws its appeal by twisting the mundane into a parallel
dimension of hilarity... Flaming Box of Stuff is outrageously funny, devoid of
predictability and a refreshing take on sketch comedy…Innovative staging aside,
what is central to the performance is its unique brand of intelligent humor
peppered with subtle and sharp wit."
Flaming Box of Stuff already has big plans for the remainder of 2003, with a
scheduled appearance in July at the Portland Sketch Festival, an invitation to
perform in Los Angeles later this year and an all new original show planned
for the Fall in Seattle.

CUPID PLAYERS

Cupid Players is an original musical sketch comedy revue. All the scenes
move to song. The show is based on addressing the human element in clever satire
and irony. The cupid players have performed from coast to coast. They create
and perform 2-3 original musical sketch comedy shows each year. In addition
to these shows, they perform for various corporations and festivals, including
the boston comedy fest, the seattle sketchfest, the miami improv fest, the
chicago sketchfest, Chicago Improv Fest, and the Portland Sketchfest. HBO's
Sketchpad had Cupid Players perform for them at a special showcase, and the group
is now under consideration to appear in an episode. Cupid Players was just
featured in CBS Morning News to help publicize the Chicago Improv Festival.

KASPER HAUSER

Kasper Hauser is Dan Klein, Rob Baedeker, James and John. James is the
captain of the troupe, but his grip on creative control is tenuous. Following a
string of "Runner-up MVP" awards, Dan is positioning himself for a total takeover.
Sensing this, John and Rob have begun to "blow smoke up his ass." They might
say, for example, "Yes, Dan, that is a fantastic [something]!" The troupe's
members have numerous stage and screen credits, including Fishing With Gandhi
and Cow Monkey. Each member has a special ability that he brings to the troupe.
Dan has ambition; Rob types 1000 words/minute; John speaks two languages; and
James is ruthless and sadistic. Kasper Hauser performs sketch comedy regularly
on the West Coast; they will be performing in L.A., Portland, Vancouver,
B.C., and San Fracisco [sp?] during Summer, 2003.

THE 3RD FLOOR

The 3rd Floor has been performing critically acclaimed sketch comedy locally
and nationally for 7 years. The focus of the troupe has always been to present
a more theatrically driven format than is usually seen in the genre. Over the
years, 35 members have filtered through the revolving cast. Some of the best
known and most talented actors in the Portland theater community have
membership cards in The 3rd Floor. T3F's performance at this festival will be a rare
chance to see nearly all 35 cast members performing together for the first
time. It'll be a rare reunion that promises to be nostalgic for long-time fans and
a perfect hilarious primer for new ones.

bits and perform with members from other troupes. It will also be a chance for
upcoming local sketch troupes to perform in the festival. This bonus show will
be free with a ticket stub to any of the festival performances. Without a
